Event Details
The seventh-oldest collegiate bowl game in the country, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl began as the Tangerine Bowl in 1947. The initial game sponsors, members of Elks Lodge #1079 of Orlando, each put up $100 to fund initial expenses.
Since 1993 the bowl has hosted top teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern conferences.
In the new “College Football Playoff” era of college football’s postseason, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl will continue to host the top Big Ten and SEC teams from outside the CFP series of bowls (including Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Cotton and Peach).
The game moved to a New Year’s Day date in 1987 and has remained a New Year’s Day tradition except in years when the holiday falls on a Sunday.
Post Game Concert

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jordan Davis will cap off the 2025 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl with a postgame concert on Wednesday, December 31, at Camping World Stadium.
The performance, presented by Geico, will take place on the stadium field shortly after the game concludes. A full one-hour set from Davis will close out the 80th edition of one of college football’s oldest and most celebrated postseason bowl games, adding a major live-music finale to an already packed New Year’s Eve in Orlando.
This year’s Cheez-It Citrus Bowl kicks off at 3 p.m. ET, and game tickets include admission to the postgame concert, which will be produced by Ballpark Music. Access to the show will not be sold separately.
Game tickets are currently available exclusively through FCS memberships, Stadium Pass flex plans, group ticket offers and premium seating rentals. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public on Sunday, December 7, following the announcement of the participating teams in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
